As We Approach Our 55th Reunion...

We are putting our hous on the market as it is time to downsize . We will probably stay on Cape Cod as we are “stuck in “on the Cape.
We are also thoroughly enjoying the interesting times we are living in as there is never a dull moment !!!!

Military/College

Coe College

What's new with you?

No longer can play tennis or go out for a five mile run as I have three bulging discs in my lower back which caused a pinched nerve . Serious stretching and strengthening excerises have alleviated the severe lower back pain , I think we overused the Amazon position , bollixed my back .
Playing five string banjo in downtown Chatham is my outlet nowadays

Special Memories about our years at WHS?

Wonderful and talented classmates , everyone got along.
Excellent teachers , we learned the basics and progressed at our level of ability and interest.
We had good sports teams our junior and
senior years , no Westwood basketball team has won a championship , just the class of 1962 . We did very well in football and track and I was glad to be a part of that.
Forgot to mention the senior colas play , On Borrowed Time . Working with Phil Manley , Lou Amoruso , Sue Carrel and Karin Pearson was very rewarding . Miss Jackson was a wonderful producer / director et al .
Mr. Markarian was a phenomenal music teacher and I enjoyed being in chorus , glee club and double quartet . I wish I had been involved since freshman year. Oh well.
Being in the Senior class play was a highlight for me as well.

Are you in regular contact with any classmates?

In touch with Jack Anderson , when I am working in the Boston area. In email contact with John Cookson and Joe Gianni.

What's your first memory of an important historical event?

General MacArthur being removed from command in Korea .
The death of the monstrous dictator Josef Stalin.

How did the events of the tumultuous 60's affect you?

Expanded my sense of conciousness in several ways !!!
The sexual revolution , which no other generation will ever experience , was certainly an intense experience.
The civil rights revolution and the abolishment of segregation which our generation was most active in was real progress.
The downside of the 60's was not apparent to me for some years , wonder why . The country did throw a national temper tantrum in many ways and the self absorption that is pervasive today had it's beginning in the 60's.

Tell us something about you that would surprise your classmates.

Am quite sensitive in unexpected ways.

Comments/Reflections

The world was so much more simple and uncomplicated in our teen years but we interacted on a more personal way , unlike the electronic age today . I mean we lived without computers , iPads , cell phones , Iphones etc and we were out and about in the world.
As kids growing up we played our own games without adults , made our own rules and settled our own disputes .When is the last time any of us saw kids playing a sport on their own ?

Am still working at a level of my own liking , two old friends started companies and I am representing them in the Northeast. Do not think of pure retirement , still enjoying business.
Fifty years out of high school , still remember some aspects of high school as if it were yesterday and other things are dim in the memory. Life has been good , my wife is the best wife a man could have and we have known each other since junior high school !!!
I have my health , still consider myself lucky to have been born an American with wonderful parents.

.

Sheila was a classmate of mine from the first grade at the Islington school thru high school graduation in 1962.

Sheila was a sweetheart who always had a pleasant way about her and always had a smile on her face . I remember her mother quite well and her brother Harry Aaron as well  .Rest in piece Sheila
